Olivia is 13 months old today!!! We found a great Thai restaurant and celebrated with some wonderful food!!! The first picture is in the restaurant before we've eaten because when we were finished we all three had food all over us. Nana and Gram get plenty of bibs becuase she is a messy one!!! The next picture is of us walking home from McDonalds yesterday. She just decided she was in the best mood, laughing and she's learned to wave bye. So, everyone gets a wave as we pass. Might I add, those were the BEST Big Macs we've EVER eaten!!! The next one is of us at the pool. You can't really tell, but she's playing with Tyler's toes. Whatever amuses her works for us. The last one is so sweet. She's learned to put her lips together and blow to make a sound. She's starting to open up. Right now Tyler has her upside down and she's just laughing. We can't figure her out. One minute she's laughing and the next she can turn on the tears. It's almost as if panic sets in and takes over. We're still battling her not letting us sit down and play with her, she just goes to pieces. I thought I would ask everyone pray specifically for two things on Thursday (that way we'll be praying around the world). Please pray that God would take her fear away and she would be able to play and crawl around and explore like a normal child and secondly that she would trust us with her heart. Every time you think about it, please pray. It's been so amazing to see what emotions have been bottled up inside this child for a year now. We've definitely seen the power of love at work. Her diaper rash is clearing up, still has lots of congestion, and just when her face started to clear up, she woke up this morning with some type of rash around her eyes. To put the icing on the cake, I'm pretty sure she's teething. We have 10 days left and we're counting them down. This has been the hardest experience for us in our married lives, but I don't think we've ever learned as much as we have here together. We can see God's hand in all of it. Thank you so much for lifting us up. Jana, we prayed for your mom's healing today and throughout her recovery. We know there is power in prayer. Love and miss you all soooooooo much!!!

Dear Tyler, Steph and Olivia,
it sounds like Olivia is really learing that she can trust you to meet her needs. I loved hearing that she was happy and waving at others! So wonderful to see her unfold and open up.
If you get back to McDonald's, buy a happy meal and save the box--fold it flat in your suitcase. Later on when you are buying Olivia happy meals here in the States, you will have something pretty neat to show her from "her China."

Ty and Steph, We are so happy for all the hurdles you have jumped and all the ones you will continue to jump! We will definetly be praying on Thursday! We love you and miss you!!! The Fields
Steph and Tyler, I am so excited that Olivia seems to be opening up. She has had such a hard time of it up until now. You know, I've been thinking a lot about what you said. There ARE so many similarities between Olivia's attitude and ours toward God. God has freely offered freedom from our bondage to sin, but we still hold on to it, not knowing how wonderful it is to love and trust God. I can see myself whining, and kicking and screaming against God's authority. It seems that Olivia is starting to trust you guys. That is such a blessing. I can't wait to see her. Thanks for the reminder to ME that God is my everything. I love you guys.

Hi Again,
I have looked at these pictures repeatedly and I wanted to tell you that I think your little girl is BEAUTIUL! I can't wait to get to know her! Aunt Molli and Sara
I am so thrilled to see the change in Olivia! We will continue to pray for your requests and the entire situation! She is beautiful and most amazing is that in a few short years there may be little that she remembers of the bad times she has experienced in the last year. you are building on a foundation of love and that will be everlasting!!!
Be Blessed!
Tyler i miss you at work too!!

beautiful pictures and post stephanie! she looks better and better! i will share one thing with you as we all pray- please don't take it as me trying to tell you what to do or how to think- i am simply sharing from life- as Olivia learns to trust you and as her heart begins to heal- look for the smallest of changes. Maybe she makes eye contact with you for 10 seconds instead of 5 or maybe you get a smile when you don't expect it or maybe she relaxes or just anything small- it doesn't happen overnight and it feels like you are going up a hill taking one step forward and two back sometimes but you keep moving up. you know i never thought i would get so excited about things i have celebrated in the last 3 years with our girls- but every little step is just one more in the journey of God healing her heart and bonding you together as a family.
You are so right. This is one of the hardest things you will ever do and unless you have done it, you can't even begin to imagine- so as you are getting tired of hotels and fast food, hang in there and just enjoy not having anything else to worry about but you three. get out and take some breaks if you need to- spend time by yourself if you need to- there is no right way or wrong way as long as you are learning to love that child and allowing God to do His stuff. We love you and continue to think of you constantly!
Hey y'all, We miss you and want you to come home. Olivia seems to really be opening up and showing some joy. Can't wait to see her little face in the good ol' US of A. I can't wait to hear her talk like you, Steph!
